This open grave situated on a double-terraced platform approachable from two sides, marks the final resting place of the last Sultan of Delhi, Ibrahim Lodi (1517-1526 CE). Ibrahim Lodi was killed during the first battle of Panipat, fighting against Babur on 21st April, 1526. It was a turning point in Medieval Indian history as Babur was successful in establishing Mughal Empire in India and Delhi Sultanate came to end.
In view of its historical importance it was declared protected as a monument of national importance vide notification no. PN,8516 dated 27.03.1919.
