This Kos Minar is located at Jawahri, District Sonipat. In 1619 CE, emperor Jahangir ordered Baqir Khan, the Fauzdar of Multan, to erect a kos-minar (mile-stone) at every kos (3.20 km) on the old imperial route. Kos -minars are brick structures standing on square platform covered with plaster. Each minar soars from a tapering octagonal base which is separated from the upper circular portion by a moulding. During the Mughal time, the Kos Minars were important landmark of the imperial route and travel.
In view of its historical importance it was declared protected as a monument of national importance vide notification no. PN,10699 dated 08.05.1918.
